How to make a new web using this web template

  1. Go to File/New/Web (2000) or File/New/Page or Web (2002).
  2. In 2002, you will need to click "Web Template" in the right side taskbar.
  3. Choose the "Designer Finance" web template, and specify the location you want to publish to.
  4. Click "OK" and wait for FrontPage to create your new web.

Editing the include pages

The logo row, horizontal menu row, and copyright statement are in include pages for your editing convenience. By opening "include_logo.htm," "include_nav1.htm," or "include_copyright.htm," you can make edits, save, and FrontPage will automatically update all the pages in your web site.

Your Logo Here Image

Delete the "Your Logo here" image and replace it with your own logo image! Open "include_logo.htm" to edit the logo area.

Adding New Pages to Your Web / Adding Links to Link Bars

Open a page that has the layout the way you want it, then go to File/Save As. Save the page under a new name - be sure to change the page title as well! Then, go to Navigation View and drag your new page into the navigation structure. This will add the pages to the link bars as well.

Deleting Pages from Your Web

Right-click on the pages you wish to delete in your Folder List, in Folder View, or in Navigation View, then select "Delete."

Renaming Pages

If you would like to use an existing page but want to rename it, you may easily do this in Folders View. Right-click on the file name and/or the page title and choose "Rename" to rename your file.

Splash Page Swish Animations

Use Swish 2+ to edit the movies in this template. Or, you may delete the movies and insert your own images or animations.

Changing Layout

We have formatted the tables so that this page will look good and resize in Netscape and Internet Explorer. If you wish to change the layout, please follow these instructions.

About this page layout
This page has been very carefully formatted with different nesting tables so that it resizes both vertically and horizontally. Do not drag on any table lines - you may "freeze" the page so that it no longer resizes properly.

Adding other columns to the page
We suggest that you do not directly add columns to this layout, as you may accidentally "freeze" the page so that it no longer resizes. Instead, delete the page template content, then go to Table/Insert/Table to add your own table in the center area. You may click within a table and go to Table > Select > Table to get a better idea of the table structure of this page.

Cascading Style Sheet

You can change colors and fonts by editing the Cascading Style Sheet. This will not change colors of images (such as the logo image), but you can control the table cell colors, font colors, and fonts. To learn more about cascading style sheets, try going to www.w3schools.com/css. To find color codes, go to http://www.johngaltstools.com/more/ and click on the "gifart" color tool link.

Using FrontPage 2000, or publishing to a server with FP2000 only extensions?

This template can still be used for FP2000 with a few modifications. FP2000 does not allow text link bars with vertical lines separating links. You can get around this by using the "include" pages for the horizontal menu bars and either 1) building your own hyperlinks or 2) using the default horizontal link style (with brackets around the links).
